ABOUT MY SONGS
WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN
A tale of loss
DIXIE'S DANCE - Single
Another project for a leading London Art Gallery where paper puppets prance around the galleries

CHICA'S JIG - Single
A fun project for a leading London Art Gallery where giant heads paraded around the space to the accompaniment of this little ditty. The original had an additional seven minutes of assorted percussion at the beginning. Named in memory of a very special friend!

ALBUM - DAYS OF PAST DELIGHTS
DOMINOS
During the pandemic the stock market and short sellers came up against a large number of individual users of a forum on Reddit, who largely held accounts on Robinhood, and collaborated to inflict billions of dollars of losses on hedge funds and other so-called short-sellers - those betting that the share price would fall. Good for them. The dominos will never really fall for the big boys as they run the world. Bastards.
WEARE
A tale of normality
RUNNING WITH THE DOGS
a tale of living in the suburbs.
LOSING MY MIND
A song for a friend who worked from home during the pandemic, for the NHS, running campaigns to make people aware of the issues, jabs and problems. 18 hours days.
PAMELA IN PARADISE
A song for a great friend
TOP SHOPPING
Let's face it, who can resist a charity shop bargain. Not me!
SWALLOWS IN THE SKY
A song for the times. Maybe we need to look after our planet!
HAPPY HOLIDAY
A joyful holiday getaway song.

ALBUM - GREY AREA
REMEMBER (a first lockdown song)
The annual Small Festival was cancelled due to the pandemic so an online festival was held instead. This song was written to commemorate all those past festivals.
LAMENT (a first lockdown song)
This song was written during the early part of the first lockdown in 2020. Nobody was sure if we would all die or not. The statistics were awful. The weather on the other hand was glorious. The humour, the weirdness and anxiety of that time comes out in the wonderful one take vocals by DL.
STANDING AT THE GATES OF TIME AGAIN (a first lockdown song)
The first song written as word was coming in of COVID-19 spreading through the UK and the world. The clapping crowds (for the NHS) Saviours from the hallowed ground (NHS workers). All salvation rest upon a shield unfound (we had no idea if we would ever find a vaccine)
I WANNA CHANGE YOUR MIND (a first lockdown song)
People reacted differently to lockdown. This song was about sticking to the rules, looking out for everyone and being kind.
THERE (a first lockdown song)
An instrumental featuring the bass guitar.
This track was so soporiphic that it helped me to relax and go to sleep at night. I can hear all the mistakes and things that I would now do differently on the track but they are part of the song now.
BABY I GOT A FEELING
CALLING OUT AROUND THE WORLD
(First party after lockdown)
I recorded a simple backing track, took my laptop and managed to record two friends (guitarists) who now feature on the finished tracks. While not perfect these songs reflect a time of release and freedom. The lyrics may be a bit dark but I get artistic licence.
THOUGHTS
A pre-covid recording. Rahane was into spoken word and grime music. We decided that he should record one of his pieces. And this is it.
Honest and poignant. Not perfect but who the fuck cares.
THEY DONT LIKE ME
A visit to the dentist in Cambridge and a walk over the pedestrian bike flyover was the inspiration for this song. A young girl in school uniform, wearing her helmet and blazer on a bicycle, was almost pushed off the road by an older girl with no helmet and no blazer. The word Freak was shouted as the elbow came out to force the young girl of the road. This is a song for all the bullies in this world and for those who have to suffer their ignorance.
ALBUM - BRILLOSOUNDS II
Originally released as The Tick of the Clock by The Ticking Clocks. The domain name has recently been bought by another band so good luck to them! I decided to stick with Brillosounds.
BURNING DESIRE
Inspired by Charlize Theron and the J'Adore adverts. See if you get all the references.
TAKE ALL THE LOVE
A visiting family and a pair of young lovers. He played the guitar. We recorded it and the rest of the song was built around that recording.
Could be for anyone but it was for them.
TALES OF MY FORGIVENESS
I get angry a lot. I shout at the TV. I shout at other drivers. I don't like a lot of what is going on in the world. If I was omnipotent then this is who I would be.
FIRST NATION
A publisher from Canada told me that he would have pushback for using the term Native American and that First Nation is now the correct termination. I did a bit of research on Native Americans mainly because I had a particular western-movie style riff in my head.
The real story is one of systematic subjugation and greed. We should be ashamed. It is still going on worldwide.
IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE
A story of love and loss.
THE TICK OF THE CLOCK
Time will make us old. We will never look as young as we once did. The fact that older actors will not get the roles that they once did because they look real, and their age, is disturbing to say the least. Who am I to say what they should do. Plastic surgery and Botox. What's interesting now is that the rise of the streaming channels and their ability to make big budget movies and series has allowed those actors, who would not normally be cast in a big budget movie, to now star outside of the pathetic traditional movie industry practices. Be who you are. Wear your own face.

WHERE YOU SLEEPING TONIGHT
A Christmas song written for a good friend and her new husband.

ALBOARACHE WAY
A song inspired by a visit to friends in the hills around Valencia. The whole magical few days are summed up in this song.

SAFE AND SOUND
Just me being protective of the love of my life.

SAY AHHH
Written by me and Peter Clarke over a long weekend in Peckham. The song kind of sums up some feelings that trouble many people.

YOU AND ME
A song written with my pal Neil Thompson on keyboards. A sad tale of love and loss. I love the whole keyboard part. Well done Neil!

LIFE CAN BE BRUTAL
Hey, I had two electric guitars by this time and decided to try them out. I tried!

JUDGEMENT DAY.
On November 17, 2015, Alexander Bortnikov, Chief of the Russian Secret Services, confirmed to Vladimir Putin that the crash of METROJET Flight 9268 was caused by the detonation of a small 'home made' bomb equivalent to one kilo of TNT that was placed on board the airplane in a beverage can. This was confirmed by the Egyptian Presidency on 24 February 2016 which means ISIS' claim it used a bomb the size of a soda can is plausible.
